Guarch Browne
Hugo Guarch Browne is a solo VFX studio building surreal, cinematic worlds — 360° environments, hyper-real impossibilities, and dreamlike sequences for brands and storytellers chasing a frame that doesn't exist yet.
See the Work→* STUDIO NOTE
A solo studio for surreal,
cinematic worlds —
built one frame at a time.
I work between traditional VFX craft — Houdini, Nuke, Unreal — and AI-assisted pipelines, where the speed-to-quality ratio is genuinely better. The result is environments that feel like memories from a place that doesn't exist. Hyper-real impossibilities, rendered slowly, for stories worth telling.
made slowly,
made on purpose.

A layer-by-layer walk through the project — plate, geo, lighting, AI passes, and the comp tree that holds it all together. Made for anyone who wants to see how the seam disappears.

SYNOPSIS · APPROACH
AI in the
VFX pipeline.
The conversation around AI in VFX tends to go one of two ways — either it's going to replace everything, or it's completely irrelevant to serious production work. Neither is true, and both miss the point.
I use AI tools as a specific part of the pipeline: concept exploration, texture generation, previz, and certain compositing tasks where the speed-to-quality ratio is genuinely better.
It doesn't replace Houdini. It doesn't replace craft. It's just a faster way to get to the frame you already had in your head.
01
CONCEPT
AI-driven exploration to lock the look fast — moodboards, comps, and visual language for the brief.
02
PREVIZ
Block out shots in Unreal with rough geo, lighting, and AI textures to test the frame early.
03
PRODUCTION
Houdini and Nuke take over for the hero work — sims, comp, matte painting at final quality.
04
DELIVERY
Final grade, format conform, and review packages tuned for the platform the work ships on.
